Zong Rolls Out Free Mobile Services for Flood-Hit Communities in Punjab
In a bid to keep flood-affected residents connected during ongoing emergencies, Zong has announced free mobile services for people living in areas hit by recent flooding along the Sutlej, Chenab, and Ravi rivers.
The telecom operator is providing 30 free on-net minutes and SMS to residents of several hard-hit districts, including Bahawalnagar, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, and Sialkot. The move aims to help families stay in touch with loved ones and access emergency assistance as floodwaters continue to disrupt daily life in parts of Punjab.
This isn’t the company’s first disaster response effort. Earlier this year, Zong offered similar relief packages to communities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) following heavy rains and flooding.
Sajid Munir, Zong’s Director of Marketing, emphasized the company’s commitment to public service during times of crisis:
“We see it as our responsibility to ensure that no one is left disconnected when they need communication the most,” Munir said, adding that the initiative reflects Zong’s broader role beyond just connectivity solutions.
The company’s ongoing support highlights how Pakistan’s telecom sector is stepping up as a lifeline for vulnerable communities, particularly in rural districts where floods often damage infrastructure and cut off communication.
