In Lahore on Sunday, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), asserted that his party has no intentions of merging with any other political group. Hussain clarified, “While seat adjustments may occur in specific constituencies with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, the PML-Q is committed to maintaining its independent identity.”
PML-Q’s commitment to independence was reiterated by Hussain, who confirmed that their candidates would participate in the upcoming elections, using the tractor symbol. Chaudhry Sarwar, the Chief Organiser of PML-Q and former Punjab governor, welcomed the election date announcement on February 8 earlier this month.
Emphasizing the significance of transparent polls, Sarwar urged the electoral watchdog and administration to ensure a level playing field for all political parties. He stressed that any elections marred by ‘doubts’ would further harm the nation. Sarwar highlighted the importance of strengthening democracy through these elections, underlining their role in fortifying the democratic process in the country.
