Punjab to Resume Marriage-Based Transfers for School Teachers from August 10
The Punjab School Education Department has decided to reopen its School Information System (SIS) portal for marriage-related teacher transfers starting August 10, ending a month-and-a-half freeze on such applications.
This policy update means teachers seeking a transfer to be with their spouse can now apply again—whether or not their partner works in the government sector. The department has clarified that, for now, only marriage-based (wedlock) transfers will be processed.
The suspension was originally imposed as part of a teacher rationalization drive, aimed at balancing staff numbers across schools. By lifting the restriction, officials say they want to make transfers more flexible and available throughout the year, so teachers can relocate when personal circumstances require.
Teachers looking to benefit from the reopening are encouraged to log in to the SIS portal and file their applications soon after the system goes live on August 10. Delays could mean longer waits, especially if demand is high.
