Multan – Social media starlet Qadeel Baloch was strangled to death in an apparent ‘honour killing’ in Multan on Saturday.
According to police, 30-year-old Waseem killed 26-year-old Qandeel in her rented house in Green Town area of Multan last night following an argument and managed to flee.
Police have shifted her body to Nishtar Hospital for autopsy after taking it into custody from her room today morning.
Police sources said that the actor-cum-model, whose real name was Fozia Azeem and had chosen Qandeel Baloch as her pseudonym after entering into the showbiz, was received threats from her brother over her provocative pictures and videos on social media.
Police said they are carrying out raids for the arrest of Wasim.
District police Chief Azhar Akram said that though Qandeel’s killing appears to be a case of honour killing but they are investigating it from different angels.
Last month, Qandeel had demanded the interior ministry and SSP Islamabad to provide security to her, stating that she is being threatened via phone calls and her life is in danger.
However, there was no response to her application either from the interior ministry or police.
A few days ago, Qandeel had said she was planning to settle down abroad because of security reasons.
