Shah Johnson, daughter of famous Malayalam music composer Johnson has been found dead in Chennai apartment on February 5. Reports in local media suggested that she was working there and was staying near Kodambakkam.
The singer-composer returned to the hotel on Thursday night after recording a song and was planning to complete the work by Friday before leaving for Kochi on Saturday for her second marriage preparations. Her first marriage was a failure and resulted in legal separated.
Suspicions about her whereabouts rose when she did not attend repeated telephone calls from family and friends. Her mother Rani, who was also in the to travel with her on Saturday, also repeatedly called her, but all the calls went unanswered. Upon this, one of her friends reported the matter to Chennai police who after banging the door for quite a while broke it and found Shah lying dead on her bed.
The exact reason behind her sudden death is not known yet as circumstantial evidence doesn’t point to suicide but he is said to have suffered a cardiac arrest. Her mortal remains will be shifted to her residence in Thrissur on Saturday, and the funeral ceremony will take place on Sunday afternoon (2:30 pm) at St Sebastian’s Church in Nellikunnu.
Born and brought up in a musician family, Shaw was trying to establish her name in the entertainment industry as a singer and composer. She has rendered her voice for songs in “Praise the Lord”, “Engeyum Eppothum”, “Paravai” and has also composed music for the movie “His name is John”.
