Hackers Sneak into Mac Computers


Technology giants are under attack. After Facebook, Apple has confirmed that company resources were attacked by hackers and some of their MAC computers were infected as result of this attack. All the infected Mac machines were used to visit a website for software developers that was infected by Malware. Name of website was not disclosed by Apple spokesperson.

Similar Malware attack which uses exploits a flaw in Oracle Java software was launched on Social Networking giant Facebook’s resources on Friday. Facebook is working with FBI to track down the source of attack.

Latest Malware targets Macintosh computers and many other firms using Apple’s Mac systems came under attack. However, Apple spokesman refused to pain exact scenario when asked about the scale of attack involving companies other than Apple.

“Apple has identified malware which infected a limited number of Mac systems through a vulnerability in the Java plug-in for browsers. The malware was employed in an attack against Apple and other companies, and was spread through a website for software developers.

We identified a small number of systems within Apple that were infected and isolated them from our network. There is no evidence that any data left Apple.” An Apple statement said.

Company is working on software patch that customers can use to detect and repair their Mac machines infected with latest Malware.

This is undoubtedly the highest-profile cyber-attack on businesses running Mac computers in history. Latest cyber-attacks also point towards a Hacking Paradigm Shift” as well. Over the years, hackers have usually targeted machines running Microsoft Windows operating system. Now the focus is being diverted to Apple products as well. Last month, hackers released a Jailbreak for Apple’s flagship iOS 6 devices.
