Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf has called for significant pre poll changes which include reconstitution of election commission of Pakistan and resignation from President Asif Ali Zardari. Demands were made in meeting of Political Strategy Committee of the party which was chaired by Imran Khan.
Political Strategy Committee of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf raised concern over inability of Election Commission of Pakistan to implement Supreme Court orders on delimitation and voters verification in Karachi. Committee also took note of Jobs for votes campaign going on in different parts of country especially Sindh and observed that Election Commission has failed to implement its own orders about new recruitment. PTI expressed full confidence on Chief Election Commissioner but demanded to reconstitute the election by reappointing capable and impartial members from the provinces.
Political Strategy Committee also discussed the prevailing political situation of the country in detail. Possibility of electoral alliance and seat adjustments with like-minded politicians was also discussed. Party president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and vice president Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi briefed the members over contacts made in this regard. It was decided that PTI will keep contact with parties those are not part of federal or provincial setup in any capacity.
Political Strategy Committee also analyzed situation of general elections being held under President Asif Ali Zardari. Committee noticed that since Asif Ali Zardari is co-chairperson of PPP as well and will not be possible for him to maintain his impartiality in polls. Committee reiterated its demand for resignation from the president and observed that his presence at presidency will make the electoral process doubtful.
