Karachi: At least four people were killed in several others injured in serial blasts targeting Shiite Muslims in Karachi on Tuesday.
The first blast occurred near an Imambargah on main M.A Jinnah Road. Minutes later another powerful explosion a short distance away rocked the area again.
Police, rescue teams and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) arrived at the scene following the bombings.
According to BDS, both bombs were timer devices.
At least four people were killed and 30 others injured in the bombings. The injured were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The third blast occurred near in Numaish Chowrangi area, however no causalities were reported. Sources said the bomb was planted on the route of the Chehlam procession but it had not reached the area by then.
The police have launched investigation of the blasts in the metropolis.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Quami Movement chief Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the blasts, saying the miscreants want to destabilize the country by erupting sectarian clashes.
