South Korean smartphone make LG has confirmed through its official blog that LG G2, the 2013 flagship phone will soon taste the new chocolate-wafer flavor of KitKat OS later this month. Company, however, declined to reveal update plan for international market. The G2 smartphone currently runs on the Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS.
If rumors doing rounds across tech blogs are to be believed, the global KitKat roll out process for G2 may spread over the next few months, probably by the end of March. French telecom operator SFR and Canadian arm of LG has confirmed that G2 devices in their respective region will receive Android 4.4 KitKat update during 1st quarter of next year.
Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is expected to bring following improvements to LG G2.
Improved Caller-ID: In case a called is not listed in contacts, phone will look for best matches on the internet local listings via Google Maps.
Priority Contacts: Android 4.4.2 KitKat allows the phone to automatically prioritize the contact list for easy access, based on the frequency of number of calls made to particular contact.
Immersive display: To enhance the entertainment factor, Android 4.4.2 KitKat comes with the immersive mode. In immersive mode, status bar and navigation buttons will disappear if user is playing music, game or reading e-books. A little swipe will be required to bring back utility buttons.
Enhanced Google Hangouts App: With enhanced Google Hangouts App, User with Android 4.4.2 KitKat can find all their text SMSs and MMSs, audio and video call details all at one place.
NFC and Wireless Printing: Android 4.4.2 KitKat comes with enhanced Quick Office app, to facilitate users to create word files, spreadsheets, presentations and store them online. They can also print files wirelessly on NFC-enabled HP printers.
Multi-tasking: With enhanced and efficient memory management in Android 4.4.2 KitKat, users can perform multiple tasks by opening several applications at once.
Performance: With low system requirements, Android 4.4.2 KitKat is expected to bring performance enhancements and improve battery life.
