ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has urged that the United States must stop carrying out drone operations on Pakistani soils, Pakistan Tribune reported.
US secretary of defense Chuck Hegel, who is visiting Islamabad for bilateral talks including drone operations and NATO supplied met with Nawaz Sharif at Prime Minister’s secretariat in Islamabad.
Relations between Washington and Islamabad often fluctuate because of drone operations in Pakistan. Drone operations are extremely unpopular in Pakistan but US terms the same as an important weapon in war against terrorism. Relations between two nations nosedived after a US drone killed TTP Chief Hakimullah Mehsud on November 01, 2013, just hours before formal launch of peace talks between militants and Federal government.
Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan strongly condemned the attack and termed it as an attack on peace talks.
Chuck Hegel is likely to meet with Army top brass as well.
