Qazi Hussain Ahmad, a prominent name in Pakistan’s politics passed away due to cardiac arrest on Sunday. He was suffering from multiple diseases and was admitted to a private hospital in Islamabad since last 3 days where he breathed his last in wee hours on Sunday.
Born in 1938 in district Noushehra of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa he completed his primary education at home. For graduate studies he opted Islamia College Peshawar and completed his M.Sc. Geography degree from there. Later on he served as a lecturer at same institution for three years. After three years he resigned from job to start his own business. He rose to prominence when he got elected as Vice President of provincial chamber of commerce and industry.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad: Political career
Qazi Hussain Ahmad got affiliated with Jamat-i-Islami since his school days and the association lasted till his last breath. He served as head of Peshawar city and as secretary and head of Jamat at provincial level. He was elected as central Secretary General of Jamat-i-Islami in 1978 and elected as head of Organisation in 1987. He held this position till 2008 until himself excused to be considered for the position again. He was succeeded by Syed Munawar Hasan as new head of party.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad was a successful politician well by all standards. He served as member senate of Pakistan from 1986 to 1996. He resigned from his upper house membership as protest against corrupt political setup of the country. He was also elected as Member of National Assembly in 2002 from his hometown Noushehra. Despite being part of political elite for such a long time he was never named in malpractices.
Qazi Hussain Ahmed was a learned scholar and eminent speaker who represented Jamat-i-Islami at various forums throughout the world. He had married with two sons and two daughters. He will be mourned by two sons, two daughters, wife and millions of Jamat-i-Islami workers spread across the globe.
