Hashim Amla is in top form this year. His innings against Aussies at WACA was a treat to watch. He hammered Australians in almost ODI fashion. With his fierce batting South Africa has managed to pile up 631 runs lead.
Hashim Amla played a knock which stunned everybody including his team mates. No one could believe that he or she is watching a test match. It was all going on in ODI fashion and that too against Aussies bowling attack. He arrived at the crease on second day of South Africa’s second when bowlers just started to relax.
Amla was in no mood to relax and he started off on ODI gear. He did not waste any opportunity offered to him and returned to dressing room with 99 not out under his belt in under one session. This was unbelievable. Even his skipper at the other end could not believe this.
“It (his quick scoring) was not a planned thing. When I arrived at the crease with Graeme Smith there were a few loose balls I managed to get away. Wherever there are gaps I hit the ball so I decided to play a few one-day shots. Whether you do it depends on the situation of the game. When you are 3-300 if you do it and don’t get away with it is not a train smash.” A confident Hashim Amla said.
During this outstanding knock of 196 he played all around the ground with equal ease. He played shots which were enough to drive bowlers and captain crazy. His footwork, wrist work and application were all methodical.
Hashim Alma had no problem in changing his mindset and pace. He scored at whirlwind speed during one partnership and at a considerably low speed during the other without losing temper.
Hashim Amla has become darling of cricket. He invents himself with every innings he plays for South Africa. His latest innings at WACA is undoubtedly one of the best at this arena.
