PTI-MQM in War of Defamation Lawsuits

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson, Dr. Shireen Mazari has said that her party is in consultation with legal team to file a defamation lawsuit against leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). Both the parties have crossed swords against each other after PTI chairman Imran Khan accused MQM of killing senior party leader Zahra Shahid in May 2013. He was talking to journalists at an Iftar Party in London.

Haider Abbas Rizvi, senior MQM leader reacted strongly to the statement accused PTI leadership to run false propaganda against MQM and Altaf Hussein. Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Rizvi said that PTI has failed to deliver on its electoral promises and is now trying to hide behind a propaganda campaign.

MQM also filed a defamation lawsuit against Imran Khan and claimed five billion rupees in this regard.

In a tit-for-tat move PTI has also announced to file a defamation lawsuit worth 10 billion rupees against MQM leadership. However, final decision will be taken by chairman Imran Khan upon his arrival from London.
