Cannibal Brothers in Bhakkar Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison

Sargodha: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) here on Wednesday awarded 12-year prison sentence to the brothers accused of cannibalism, Pakistan Tribune reported.

35-year-old Mohammad Arif and his 30-year-old brother Mohammad Farman from Darya Khan town of Bhakkar had been re-arrested after head of a young boys was recovered from their home. The rare cannibalism case shocked Pakistan and drew widespread attention of the International media.

The cannibals had earlier served two years behind the bars at Mianwali’s district jail after they were found guilty of disinterring and devouring more than 150 corpses from a local graveyard. Following their release in May last year they again started eating the human flesh.

Since Pakistan has no law pertaining to cannibalism, the brothers were charged under anti-terrorism laws for desecration of the graves.
