NA-2 Peshawar consists of tehkal, university road, Hayatabad, large portion of Khyber Agency and surrounding villages. This constituency was won by Arbab Alamgir in 2008 and served as federal minister for communication. His wife was also selected on seats reserved for women. Despite being in position, both of them paid no heed on the problems of constituency.
People of NA-2 Peshawar want change as they voted for Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in 2002 general elections. Maulana Rehmatullah of MMA secured 37,000 votes while his opponent Arbab Alamgir Khan could only get 15,000. MMA could not deliver to what they have promised so voters took their decision back and again voted for PPP.
Now, once again people have a very good alternative choice in the form of PTI and they can vote for PTI. PTI has become one of most popular political party and by working hard at grass root level it can win major constituencies like NA-2.
ANP has given ticket to Najibullah Khan who is a strong candidate and can give a surprise. However, an anti ANP sentiment exists in whole Khyber Pukhtunkhwa which can go against him.
PML-N, JUI-F, and Jamat-i-Islami has fielded their own candidates but none of them has winning outlook. Presence of so many candidates may indirectly help Arbab Alamgir as their anti-vote will be divided among many countries.
A triangular fight between ANP, PPPP, and PTI is expected on Election Day.
